HVPB’s Ventrilo Setup Tutorial
January 17th, 2008Ventrilo is a free voice communications program that many players use. It allows teams to create strategies and have clear communication. Its also a great way to just sit back and talk with some buddies. This tutorial will teach you how to setup and use the program. First you must download and install Ventrilo. You can download it here.
STEP 1 - USERNAME
1: Press on the first “->” button to the right of “User
Name”.

2: After Step 1 press the “New” button.

3. Enter *YOUR* HighVelocity Paintball username (Lets use Hooters for Example). Once you’ve entered a nickname press the “Ok” button.
STEP 2 – SERVER
4. Press on the second “->” button to the right of “Server”.

5. Step1-Press the “New” button. Step2-In name type: “HighVelocity Paintball”. 3-After step 1 and 2 press the “OK” button.

6. Step1-To the right of “Hostname or IP”, enter the current Host or IP (usually called the server).
Step2-To the right of “Port number”, enter the current Port number.
Once you’ve completed step 1 and 2 press the “OK” button.

STEP 3 – SOUND
Press the “Setup…” button on the main interface.

- To make sure you microphone doesn’t transmit unwanted sound make sure the “Use Push To Talk Hotkey” box is checked.
- You can select a Hotkey to press when you wish to transmit sound though the mic. I usually use the mouse scroll for mine.
- Change Output device to your soundcard.
- Check the “Use directsound for input device” box.
- Change Input Device to your soundcard.
- Change mixer to your soundcard; change Mux to recording and change Line to Microphone.
- If you find it difficult to hear other increase the inbound. If others find you quiet increase your outbound. And vice versa.
Once you’ve
completed steps 1-7 press the “OK” button.

STEP 4 - CONNECTING

Once you’ve completed Steps 1-4 you are now ready to connect to the HVPB ventrilo server and your client should look like this.
If you filled in the correct Host/IP and Port-Number you should be able to connect.

Once you’re connected it would
look something like this.
To change channels just double
click on the channel name.
You can talk by holding down your
hotkey.
