How to get Free HVPB Cash

January 8th, 2008

Seems like every day there is someone on hvpb looking for free cash. This usually results in spam such as “I’ll be in ammo store accepting donations.” I can recall the days when I was a noob. QTpie gave me 5k. It was quite the gift back then. So this gave me the idea to create a list of ways to get free cash on hvpb.

1. Join a team that has monthly splat contests. Many teams leaders use contests as incentives in order to boost total spalts for the team. If you’re an active player who gets a lot of splats, you may be able to cash in. Ask around, as most of the top teams have contests in one form or another.

2. Help out HVPB. HVPB is always looking for banners or website graphics. If you have some skills speak with me online. Right now we could use some banners for our advertising. Flash banners would be really nice.

3. Play the right games. Stay away from tournaments unless you’re just amazing. Play regs and cash in on the games with the highest payout. Hold the fort is easy money and you probably won’t have to fire a shot. If you’re playing CTF or 4 Corners try and cap a few flags, again easy cash. Remember, if you have purchased a membership, Saturdays are “Double Days”. Everything pays out double.

4. Play the right class. . . or play the class right. If all you want to do is spray SFN as a HW, you’re not going to save any money. Play the class right and load up some fast paint into a minigun. If you just can’t help yourself, change classes to something that is more conservative for regs. If you happen to be the only person online, change to vet or engy and let your turrets work for you. Your winnings will offset the cost of a smart paintball turret.

5. Buy it, Duh. The secret to buying cash is to buy from someone reputable. HVPB sells cash to players, but the rates are not as high as some players offer. If you decide to buy from a private player, first ask around to be sure you’re getting a fair deal. Then ask the seller who has bought from him recently. Track those buyers down and see if their experience was pleasant or not. Finally you should ask a teal admin to verify the cash before you purchase it.

HVPBTips.com

January 5th, 2008

This site has gone through a lot of transition over the last few years.  I’ve decided to leave the layout as it is until we can create the tutorials for each and every item.  Once everything has been completed, then I may approach a designer for a more user-friendly layout.  I would say we are about 65% complete.  I will post some of the better strategies here from time to time.  If you wish to assist with any of the tutorials, just hollar.http://hvpbtips.com

Admins

November 11th, 2007

Everyone seems to want to be an admin. Although the idea of ‘its harder than it looks’ will not sway many people, I would like to post a few of my ideas on the subject.

The most covetted position new players want is TM. The ability to run tournaments attracts everyone to administration. Most players think that if they get a promotion to Nh that one day they will get a shot at TM. This is entirely false. Players who think this are easy to pick out as they usually don’t last long as Nh, they become inactive, and overall worthless; which leads to a demotion. I think the best admins are the ones who are do not want it for selfish reasons (like the people i previously described). A person who understands that new players are the future and life of hvpb are the ones who I want as admins. The person who is dedicated and goes out of their way to improve hvpb and make it a better place is the person I want as an admin.

TMs have a rough job. Ever notice how someone complains each and ever tourn without fail? Its no fun to spend all of your time on hvpb while people are complaining. TMs need to be very mature and able to handle situations under stress. Sometimes they are promoted from NH after they have proven these qualities. Other times they are promoted from paying chars because they exhibit these qualities.

Finding admins isn’t an easy job. Picking the wrong person can have major consequences. Dare i mention Toddles? If all you wanted was an active person to run a ton of tourns, he was the man. Unfortunatly he had a maturity and abuse problem. I don’t fault the 99’s for making that promotion, it could easily happen to me. Its very hard to judge a player’s character when they could be simply ‘playing for admin’. I just want all of you guys to know that we will always do our best to promote players who will improve hvpb. I am always open to suggestions and questions about administration. Feel free to talk to me anytime.

Tournament Notifier

October 5th, 2007

We have created a Tournament Notifier that will let you know each time a new tournament starts, even if you’re not logged into HVPB! You can download the notifier here. A big thanks to BillyM for coding it. Its in its infancy but we eventually hope to fully integrate it with hvpb. Check it out and enjoy.

Thanks and enjoy HVPB

Classic “HVPB 1″

July 5th, 2007

I left this idea out of my “The Future” note because I didn’t want to get your hopes up before investigating the feasibility of this idea.

I am pleased to announce that we will be bringing back HVPB 1. Their is a huge demand for hvpb1, but also a huge demand for hvpb2. So we were tasked with developing a solution that allows players to play both versions. The first goal of this project was to develop it in a way so that you guys wouldn’t have to pay extra to play hvpb1. We accomplished that. We also didn’t want dual clients. Finally we wanted all splats, levels, etc to transfer over.

Here is the solution we arrived at: We currently run 4 servers, a51, TA ,OL, and TG. Initially we will convert OL into a hvpb1 server. This means that you can play hvpb1 by simply logging into that server with your current character. When you log in to everyone will essentially become the same class. This will make everyone have the same base speed. Upon logging into OL you will have immediate access to all HVPB1 eq. If you get splats on OL they will be credited to your character just as they are now. Nothing is separate. Splats and money you earn stay with your character regardless of what server you got them on.

Essentially this means you can have your choice of hvpb1 and hvpb2 at no additional cost. You dont’ have to create an additional character, you don’t have to buy levels for a new character.

For those of you who remember hvpb1’s short lived comeback a year or so ago don’t’ worry. It is being done drastically different this time. There are still a handful of factors to work out and i’m sure some last minute modifications to our plan will be required. But I wanted show you guys our plan and get some feedback. I’m sure there will be a handful of replys be ppl who are confused. I’ll do my best to address them and answer any questions
